Michael Bowker

Michael has more than 15 years of experience as an editor for magazines, newspapers and books.  He served for four years (2006-2009) as the Executive Editor for Hispanic Business Magazine in Santa Barbara, California.  It was, at the time, the largest English language Latino magazine in the country, with more than 900,000 subscribers. He oversaw the entire production of the magazine, including the editing of the major features in both the printed and online versions of the publication. He also wrote most of the cover stories.

He edited more than 200 major features during this time, as well as overseeing the monthly budgeting for free-lance writers, photographers and other vendors.  The online version of HB set records for traffic to the website for 48 consecutive months.

Just after graduating from college with journalism and English degrees, Michael worked for five years as a reporter and assistant editor for a mid-sized newspaper near South Lake Tahoe, California. Since 2009, he has edited several magazines and books, on a free-lance basis. His editing skills range from expertise in book and magazine structure and presentation, to line-editing.  He’ll help you find just the right way to tell your story and if a word is ‘spelt’ wrong, he’ll find it.
